Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?
A light double pushchair is easy to get around, particularly when you have children of various ages. They're typically simple to steer, fold and transport up and down the stairs.
This City Mini GT2 features side-by-side seating with plenty of legroom. It also has adjustable reclining, large UPF 50+ canopy, and windows that peek out. It also comes with a smart frame that can be expanded to take a second seat and a compatible car seat(s).
Side-by-Side
The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs we tested are side-by-side models and they're generally best for kids who can sit up on their own, as these models aren't equipped with car seat integration. However, the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both top choices that have adjustable recline in both seats, a large canopy, and padded five-point harnesses. They're also easy to move despite their larger footprints and are perfect for parents who worry about fitting through doors.
The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because it features a unique frame that can be expanded to add a second child seat. This makes it smaller than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating. It can be pushed through standard doors and is easy to maneuver on public transportation. It's also a jogger, which is great for those who want to use it with baby carriers or a car seat, and comes in a range of fun colors.
The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another excellent lightweight side-by-side double. It allows for even more customization thanks to the modular frame. It features a clever design that allows you to transform it into a single buggy or a double with the addition of two car seats or carrycots (it can even take twins). It's a good option for families growing. The umbrella stroller UPPAbaby is one of the lightest, sexiest and stylish strollers available.
Try the egg2 which folds down to the size and weight of a tiny suitcase. It can be used as a single or double by adding two carrycots or baby car seats. Our test subjects were awed by how easy it was to move around, even with a full load of children.
Even though they are lightweight double pushchairs side-by-side aren't foolproof. If your children are of the same age and stage, they might still fight about who gets to sit in which spot. If they're at different heights then it is possible that a tandem design is the best option for them, since it lets them face each other.
Tandem
While side-by-side models may be more suitable for siblings with similar ages, tandem lightweight double pushchairs offer their own perks. They can be fitted with a larger car seat, and some even have convertible seats or an additional carrycot that is located in the middle. They are generally more spacious and easier to move into and out of, although their baskets are typically smaller than the ones on single buggies. They often have larger canopy with windows that peek out and padded leg cushions.
The iCandy Peach is another example of a great value lightweight tandem. Its fabric feels a bit less luxurious than our other top-rated doubles, but it looks and feels great and is very user-friendly. Its one-handed folding is impressive. Even though it requires some time to master, Kirstie from our Lab described it as "genius". It's not possible to fold it with the carrycot attached, however, the mechanism for attaching and taking it off it is easy and quick.
Tandem lightweight double strollers will generally have a more precise turning compared to side-by-side models. However, they could be harder to navigate on uneven surfaces and curbs. They are also slower to accelerate and more heavy to move. This puts strain on your back.
Another option is a convertible double buggy, that starts out as a single and then you add adapters to turn it into a double. They can have the option of a second seat, a carrycot, or both in the front. The children can be seated together. Some may have the option of including a buggyboard, which assists an older child to keep up with younger siblings or brothers.
The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized stroller by purchasing additional cocoons for PS59 each. The cocoons create an open space for infants. They can be positioned in a row or joined to one another and you can use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you select an appropriate one). These dual-use buggies are made of quality materials and can be used for a long time without showing any wear. This means they come with a high resale price.
Single-to-Double
This lightweight double buggy is made for families who love to go on outdoor adventures and want to upgrade from a single-stroller. It can be transformed into a jogger with a kit that includes air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension. It is also a good option for twins, or children of different age groups and as triple tandem, it is able to take on rough terrain. It's also a great choice for parents looking for an elegant design that's as elegant as a single and is available in a range of colors for the fabric.
This iCandy model is very easy to fold with the use of a single hand. It's also heavier than some of the other single-to-double pushchairs featured in this review, home tester Karolina claimed that it feels extremely maneuverable, even when she had two toddlers and a carrycot inside.
The seat can be used with the parent facing and you can purchase additional accessories for this stroller such as the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each) which are great for infants. The seats are comfortable for toddlers and come with excellent headrests and lumbar support. And there are plenty of double pram pushchair for reclining in the front, with the seat being adjustable to different positions and the rear seat having the option to recline.
This kind of buggy has the main disadvantage of being a bit wider than side-byside doubles. This makes it difficult to navigate through doorways and it can be difficult to get up and down kerbs. The suspension and wheels of these models are generally good at coping with paved surfaces. They're also lighter than many side-by-sides which means you can have plenty of storage. These strollers aren't easy to maneuver in supermarkets with narrow aisles and they might struggle to carry a large amount. Although it's much easier to turn the stroller on a narrow curved path, it can be a challenge. double pram and pushchair are easier to turn than other, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.
Convertible
The great thing about convertible double pushchairs is the ability to adapt to changing family requirements. Often, they start as single buggies and have adapters that allow you to add a second child's seat or carrycot, or (in certain instances) an automobile seat to the frame. Some can be converted to a single one when your child reaches the age of walk or wants to ride buggyboards.

This stylish tri-fold double stroller is among of the lightest on our list. It can hold up to 40lbs per child and has a storage basket between the seats. The home testers loved the spacious canopy with peekaboo windows with multi-position reclining seats as well as front and rear suspensions to ensure smoother rides on rough terrain. It also comes with a convenient parent cup holder as well as an enormous easy-to-access basket. They also noted that the backs of the bags have small pockets which are only sufficient to hold a phone and a set of keys.

This versatile tandem is a top pick among our home testers for its maneuverability and large shopping basket, which can be accessed with both seats facing towards the parent. It is a breeze to maneuver due to its surprisingly low weight (about the equivalent of some single pushchairs). Reversible seats mean you can flip them to face either direction, and the clever way it can attach the second seat or riding board to the rear is highly praised by many. Parents also appreciated that it accommodates infant carriers and car seat from a variety of brands. This includes a few that aren't typically compatible with other double buggies.
